John Good, current vice president and drum designer of dw drums, took drum lessons at the age of 17 with Don Lombardi from "The Drum Workshop" in Santa Monica/California. After 3 months Don confessed to him that his talent would probably not be enough for a successful career. Instead, they spent hours and hours discussing their ideas on how to improve drums. John and Don founded "dw drums" and specialized in the development and production of drum sets and accessories. The current company headquarters is Oxnard/ California.
John is known worldwide for his exceptional knowledge of veneers and their sound characteristics and is constantly searching for different woods to create unique drum sets. The legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart gave John the nickname "Wood Whisperer" and at dw drums they call him "Woodologist".
